34, 2002 NOOD Regatta - 4 Races, 0 Throwout(s)

Zuni Bear continued her hot streak as she won the SF NOOD regatta with an impressive 1,4,3,1 total of 9 to best Nantucket Sleighride (2,5,4,4 total of 15) and Good Timin' (7,3,1,5 total of 16. Blackhawk was 4th (3,1,8,10 total of 22 followed by Wind Dance (12,6,2,9 total of 29) and Charade (8,20,7,2 total of 37).Rounding out the top ten were Tiburon (6,17,5,11 total 39), Jose Cuervo (4,16,12,8 total of 40), Irrational Again 16,11,10,7 total 44) and Advantage 3 (14,12,15,6 total of 47).

Saturday racing was on the Berkely circle as the fleet waited for the wind to fill in. Finally, at 12:30 a 12-14 knot southwesterly filled to allow the four fleets to get off. The 30 boat J105 fleet started last after the Farr 40s, J120s and 1D35s. The mix of fleets made for interesting mark roundings and crossings as J105's had to consider bigger and faster boats instead of our J105 only events or mixes with smaller boats. Sunday's racing was also on the circle but under heavier winds of 18-25 knots.

Bullets were grabbed by Zuni Bear in race 1 and 4, Blackhawk in race 2 and Good Timin in race 3. Other nice showings included Jose Cuervo with a 4th in race 1, Nantucket Sleighride with a steady diet of 2,5,4,4, Charade with a 2 in race 4, Wind Dance with a 2 in race 3, Advantage 3 with a 6 in race 4, Streaker with a 2 in race 2, Bella Rosa coming back in day 2 with a 6,3, and Larrikin with a 7 in race 2. It was also nice to Hazardous Waste out again after replacing her mast from the Coastal Cup. We really miss those pics Glen!

Going into the BBS, Good Timin conintues to lead Zuni Bear by a single point 74 to 75. 12 points back at 87 is Blackhawk followed by Nantucket Sleighride at 97 points in 4th. The race for 5th is now between Bella Rosa 132, Wind Dance 137 and Tiburon 138. A big group of 7 are positioning for the last 2 top ten spots with Arbitrage at 225, Orion 237, Irrational Again 238, Walloping Swede 239, Jose Cuervo 244, Whisper 261 and Advanatage 3 at 263.
