Aldo Alessio Regatta, Friday through Sunday, August 2-4

Blackhawk wins the St. Francis Aldo Alessio in a three way tie breaker with Good Timin' and Nantucket Sleighride, all with 14 points!

The Aldo Alessio was a 3 day event with 2 buoy races on Friday, an Ocean race to the Lightship Buoy on Saturday and a Bay tour race on Sunday. Named in Honorium for StFYC Commodore Aldo Alessio, who dominated the Bay of Farallones and deep water sailing in the 30s and 40s, this years Aldo was a true test of sailing skills.

Friday racing saw depleted crews cobbled together from survivors of work, vacation, Pac Cup and Knarr Worlds sailing double sausages in 15-20 Knots of south-southwest winds on the Berkeely Circle and City Front Venues. The Saturday Ocean Race was started East of Alcatraz in 18 knots, but saw the winds drop to 10-12 knots at the Lightship Buoy not filling until the Gate where 25-30 knots presented wild knock downs at the finish.  Sunday was a really interesting double trapezoid course in 15-20 knots of westerly that ran Blackaller, Harding, Yellow Bluff, X, 7, Temp, Finish.

The buoy races on Friday saw Tiburon winning the first race for back to back bullets (also winning the Silver Eagle) and Blackhawk winning the second race. Good Timin' responded with a win of the Ocean race on Saturday.  The final Bay Tour race was won by Blackhawk to seal the deal.

Exeptional honors go to Blackhawk for 2 bullets; Tiburon for back to back bulltets; Orion for getting back with a 7th; Jose Cuervo for a consistent top 10; Alchemy for a top ten finish in race 3, and Advantage3 for a steady diet of 12,8,8,8.
